Resolve to Revitalize Your Vagina and Take Back Your Sex Life with MonaLisa TouchⓇ

For decades, men have benefitted from untold hours and dollars dedicated to improving their sexual health. In the meantime, women were left with few alternatives when it came to sexual dysfunction. Thankfully, new treatments are now available that specifically address vaginal health (and sexual health), and leading the charge is the MonaLisa TouchⓇ system.

At Tahoe Women’s Care, under the expert direction of Dr. Gary Willen, our team understands the many health issues that plague women, and we offer a wide array of services to help improve the lives of our patients living in and around Carson City, Nevada. As part of this, we’re proud to offer the MonaLisa Touch, a noninvasive laser technology that boosts the health of your vaginal tissue.

Here’s a look at the primary culprits behind poor vaginal health, and how we can revitalize your tissue with MonaLisa Touch.

Declining vaginal health

The primary culprit behind vaginal health issues is menopause. When women transition from their reproductive years to their nonreproductive years, their ovaries shut down. As the primary manufacturers of your estrogen hormones, this causes a precipitous drop in these hormones.

While estrogen is primarily responsible for regulating ovulation, it also governs the health of your tissue to facilitate intercourse and delivery. Without these hormones, your tissue can thin, becoming less elastic and more fragile. In fact, more than half of postmenopausal women between the ages of 51 and 60 experience problems with vaginal dryness, which causes painful sex.

Another contributor to poor vaginal health is childbirth. In many cases, the tissues inside your vagina are stretched beyond their ability to bounce back, leaving you with vaginal laxity.

Rounding out the primary list of culprits are certain treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation, which can have an impact on the health of your vaginal tissues.

No matter how the problem arose, the good news is that there’s something we can do about it.

MonaLisa Touch to the rescue

MonaLisa Touch is a fractional CO2 laser that delivers energy into your tissue to spur a healing response. This response often comes in the form of renewed collagen production, which is the protein responsible for the elasticity and tone in your tissue.

The MonaLisa Touch treatments are incredibly easy and take only five minutes each. During your treatment, we gently insert a specially designed wand into your vagina that delivers the CO2 energy. After we’re done, you’re free to go on with your day, though we do ask that you refrain from sexual intercourse, hot baths, and vigorous exercise for five days afterward.

For most of our patients, we recommend a series of treatments — typically three — which we space apart by six weeks to allow time for your tissue to respond. As you progress through your treatments, you’ll realize gradual results as your tissue benefits from renewed resources that help strengthen and lubricate your vagina.
